FAQs - G&U Skincare

Which serums should I use during the day vs. at night?

  1. Retinol & Retinoids:
Effective for wrinkles and acne, but increase sun sensitivity. Use retinol serums at night to avoid sun damage or burns.
  2. AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) & BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids):
Ingredients like glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids are great for exfoliation but increase sun sensitivity. Use our Tranexamic Acid and Glycolic Serum at night for safe results.
  3. Vitamin C (unstable formulas):
Vitamin C can be used during the day if formulated properly (ideal for its antioxidant protection). Our Vitamin C + Ferulic Antioxidant Serum is stable and perfect for daytime use.
  4. Azelaic Acid:
Found in our acne treatment products, Azelaic Acid may increase photosensitivity, so it's best to use it at night.

Reminder: If using these at night, be sure to apply sunscreen during the day for added protection!

Can I mix serums like Tranexamic Acid and Retinol?

Yes, but proceed with caution! Both are potent and could cause irritation, especially on sensitive skin.

  • Alternate Use: If you're new to these ingredients, consider using Retinol one night and Tranexamic Acid on another.
  • Hydrate Well: Use a moisturizer after these serums to maintain a healthy skin barrier.
  • Sunscreen Required: If using Retinol at night, always apply sunscreen during the day due to increased photosensitivity.
  • Gradual Introduction: Start with one ingredient, then add the other once your skin adjusts.

If combining them, apply Tranexamic Acid first, let it absorb, then follow with Retinol.

Which cleanser should I use?

The choice between our pH Balance Cleanser and Oily Skin Cleanser depends on your skin's needs.

  1. pH Balance Cleanser
  2. Oily Skin Cleanser

Which to choose?

  • For excessive oil and acne, the Oily Skin Cleanser is best.
  • For balanced, gentle cleansing, go with the pH Balance Cleanser.
  • For combination concerns (oily in some areas, sensitive in others), consider using Oily Skin Cleanser at night and pH Balance Cleanser in the morning.

When should I use the eyelash serum?

Our eyelash growth serum can be applied day or night. However, it’s typically most effective when applied at night.

Why at night?

  1. Better Absorption: Nighttime application allows your skin to absorb the serum without interference from makeup, sunscreen, or external factors.
  2. Reduced Irritation Risk: Daytime application may cause irritation if it contacts makeup or if you rub your eyes.
  3. Avoids Product Interference: Makeup and other products may reduce the serum's effectiveness or cause discomfort.

If using during the day, apply to clean, dry lashes and avoid direct sunlight by wearing sunglasses. For best results, nightly application is recommended.
